How much would you pay for a 5yo chesnut gelding ISH, good eventing lines (can't remember them though at the mo), good conformation, willing attitude, xc schooled, competed at a few unaffiliated show jumping, novice and int. classes, jumping 1.20 at home, but can be a bit babyish still, and occasionally taps a few. Good for vet, farrier, to catch. Bit of a bugger to box. Aiming at affiliated eventing (has a couple of unaff. PC ODE coming up), but as for now hasn't done any? OK to hack, but not a novice ride in the school or out, as still very cheeky and babyish, will try it on every now and then. How much would you price him at? For buying and selling.

Very interested, as owner seems to think double what I do.

Cheers x

Really is a guess but i would prob pay no more than 4000 unless it was very special. Might be way out tho as prices seem to vary alot for 'potential'!

Re the blood lines, his half brother recently did quite well at Badminton, if that helps at all. They bought him as a 3 yo over from Ireland.

Will tell you what we both said when some more people have guessed! x

Would think around £6500 to £7000. If he has shown willing at unaff competitions & showing GOOD scope with right attitude then I think that would be fair. Esp with good breeding lines & jumping 1.20 at home - at 5 yrs old I think it's a fair price. Saying that, nearly anything can jump a 1.20 upright - it's more the style, scope, shape & confidence that's needed. I wouldn't worry about tapping the odd one - you may be looking at £10k + for an established 5yr old.

Owner reckons in excess of 13k, I reckon about 6k (although still being generous). He shows a willing attitude at shows, but still very babyish and quite cocky. In my opinion he has potential to go novice/intermediate, but not much further. They bought him as a 3 year old for 6.5k.
