Just wondering until I can get vets out on Tuesday what your thoughts are........

I was in middle of lunging when he started to pull his leg up wierdly as he was walking, thought never seen this before. So I brought him in and have poulticed but he doesnt want to stand on it. Could it be an abcess or has he pulled something??

Had enough now horse has been lame for most of the year but with different problems!

Can you not get your vet out tomorrow morning - a lot of them don't charge out of hours until after lunchtime - and if your horse is that lame, he should see a vet sooner rather than later - particularly given that it is a bank holiday!

Vets would generally rather be called on the Saturday morning to something minor, particularly if you can be flexibleish with times rather than have to deal with an emergency when they've just sat down to their dinner.

Hi, I can feel for you as have same problem this weekend. Was looking forward to a nice long weekend with the horse (have a new baby so time is always an issue and my in-laws are visiting so would have had plenty of free time just for me and horse) then horse comes in from field hopping lame on front leg yesterday. I suspect foot as had similar probs before in the winter but could also have been something in leg as there was a weird lump and some heat. Anyway, I called my vet for some advice and he advised to keep horse in over night, cold hose the leg and then see what happens in morning if situation the same or worse to call them out. This morning horse was much better, funny lump and heat had gone, she was still a bit careful with her foot but not nearly as bad as before. Giving her some time off and see what she is like tonight, will monitor lameness of course and maybe examine foot once again just to be safe.
Basically, it could be anything but when they are very lame in walk it is often to do with the foot I understand ...

Hope yours gets better soon. We will miss our jumping clinic tomorrow which I had been looking forward to as first jumping lesson in absolutely ages due to child ...
