I thought I would write another update, just incase anyone is interested, and also it might be useful for people in the future, if they search
Lucy has had her HA and steroid injections into the coffin joint, had 4 days boxrest (joy) and now 10 days fieldrest, before being reassessed and then hopefully brought back into work.
I have put her on Science Supplements Flexability Pro, she has magnetic bands to wear now, saddler is coming out before I get back on, and in a few shoeing cycles I am planning on transitioning to barefoot. I didn't want to change too much at once for her which is why I am waiting.
THis is what the MRI report said, so I am REALLY hopeful that we have caught whatever this is super early. Overall I am feeling more positive.
"scans demonstrate little of concern in these forefeet. There is mild effusion of the distal interphalangeal joints bilaterally. This is a common finding in adult horses and may represent a sympathetic effusion, mild synovitis or early degenerative joint disease. Medication of the distal interphalangeal joints with corticosteroids may be beneficial. The scans are reassuring that this horse does not have major soft tissue or osseous pathology. it should be considered that MRI has a low sensitivity for detection of changes associated with capsular foot pain (corns, subsolar bruising, laminar inflammation) and this cannot be ruled out as a cause of lameness in this horse."
