MoM, my 22 yo mare hurt herself 10 days ago and has been limping on right front ever since. Vet been, bute etc. She has been alternately boxed or wombling in the garden depending on the weather. She also went out in the field Saturday morning but we had to bring them in later on as it was raining. OH noticed she was crossing (plaiting) her back legs as she walked so I walked behind her and sure enough she was AND she is lame on her left hind! Weekend inside due to the weather so today we took them out again to the field. She is still the same at the back although her front right limp is definitely improved.

Now, I am fairly sure she hasn't been lying down in her bed as she's normally covered in shavings if she does, so my question: Is the rear limp a result of her not being able to lie down to rest, causing strain on the leg (stifle)? Could having to stand up for so long have caused a problem with her 'locking mechanism'?

Any thoughts please?

if this was my horse after 10 days i would have the vet back out and find out was is wrong,it might be conected to the injury on the front leg,you may need xrays, scans ect,but i would have the vet back out.
