Further era to the thread I posted yesterday... (Here it is if anyone would like to read)

http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?652880-Buying-a-second-horse-dilemma

I have looked on here but some threads are quite outdated so i want to research some yards in the mean time to see what's out there. I live in south east London (greenwich/lewisham) so am mainly look I out in the kent/surrey areas I guess. I know of yards in bexley but they haven't really been my cup of tea so will travel further out. Turn out really is my main thing, a school would be ideal (an indoor would be amazing but I know how hard tocome by these are) some hacking would be nice but I'm not one t hack for hours, more for the benefit of the horse so I guess some vaguely decent hacking. Decent all year t/o really is my main concern, if this is far too fantastical I do have an alternative yard I could turn away for in winter as Lon as spring/summer for a decent time there is good t/o. Most other things negotiable. I need full/part (whatever it's called in these parts, exercise as option possibly but not as package) livery at a reasonable rate. I don't know if this exists. Ideally I'd love full grass livery and a school and commutable by train or by car I don't really mind.

I used to be stabled north of London so know more that way than south :-/

hope some people may be able to advise :-)

thanks in advance

I'd look at Capricorn Equestrian in Eynsford http://capricornequestrian.co.uk/ and Speedgate Farm in Fawkham http://www.speedgate.co.uk/liveries.htm

Both have great facilities, are very accessible from M25 as around Dartford and offer excellent turnout (although this winter may be a little different in view of our lovely weather). There's also Eaglesfield but it's more fiddly to get to and not sure about turnout. If you come down further to Sevenoaks area there's alot more choice but probably too far for you in the week.

I have mine at home so I only know above yards from competing there!

Chelsfield is on the train line from Lewisham, just past Orpington, though you do have to walk up a big hill! It's a riding school but they have a lot of liveries.

Thanks for replies guys, had looked at Capricorns site and thought it was gonna be massively expensive but it's not as expensive as I thought as yard looks lovely! (And no kids, which may sound mean but I'm not a kid person) they also mention doing grass livery! Which is a bonus!

Gonna start looking out east as well, I reckon and will have a look at chelsfield, though not too keen on riding schools :-/

Wish I had my own chunk of land!

Capricorn is nice and very reasonable. Two outdoor schools, nice hacking. The only reason I didn't go there was they don't allow outside instructors.

Chelsfield RS has no real turnout (they go out on rotation for just a few hours).

There is a lovely new yard opened in Otford village which is worth a look. I can't remember the name but if you google yard in Otford I'm sure it'll come up as it has a website.

Other than that I know of small yards through word of mouth - White Horse in Fawkham (bottom of Speedgate hill) this one has a Facebook page and is run by Sophie, a yard in Chelsfield run by a lady called Kay West. Both lovely yards.

PM me if you want as this is my area of specialism!

Which yard did u choose in the end? Thinking of full livery in the area. Does any one know what Speedgate is like?

Sorry haven't pm'd people, will do it, been stuck working away for past couple of months so horse search was on hold. Struggling as I either chose a yard in the north that I can drive to (but have to get to my mums for the car) or one in the south east I can train and/or cycle to so struggling with the best options as missing horses so much and the obstacle of me going ahead with buying is finding the right place! So will message people and thanks again for your help!!! xxxx
