Another one who wont load.

After reading the other thread I tried the stepping forward then stepping backwards technique this afternoon.

It worked to a degree, we managed to get front feet on the ramp and head stretching into the trailer, I was pleased with this.

However, when asked to back up Chico does this no problem, but I find it hard to keep him straight, he backs up but swings his bum out and ends up going back at an angle to me so obviously when i ask him to walk on again we arent going in the right direction, lol!

Any advice?

Old lunge whip, remove lash and used as a guide to keep straight.

Lunge lines can be used if you aren't alone.

problem is he turns so that him bum swings out as his head stays next to me, hence if i was holding a lunge whip it would be on the wrong side of him to keep him straight.

So did mine, I just switched sides (so I was leading from the right). ;) Lunge whip held down her offside, stopped her stepping off the side of the ramp when backed up. Treated myself to a side load/unload box, so no issue now. :)

Chico has learnt how to avoid the ramp by moving both sides. Am worried that if i switch which side i am leading from he will (and does) just swing the opposite way. He's a clever little cookie (annoyingly, lol!)
