Someone said earlier that MAN's were generally 300kg heavier than Iveco/DAF

I've just bought a MAN to swap onto my lorry but current chassis is an old V plate edford TL860 - was 10 tonner but downrated to 7.5t

I know what lorry weighs empty now and can get MAN weighed, but dioes anyone know where I might be able to find out hte weight of the old Bedford chassis before I gwet it taken out from under the box?

Another query - MAN is currently used as a coal lorry and is curtain sided. MOT runs out end March - do I have to get it reregistered as a horsebox and then tested once swapped?

Thanks

i couldnt tell you what the bedford chassis would weigh without the body - approximation would be around the 2 tonne mark, and yes once the body has been put onto the new chassis you will need to send the log book back to DVLA and the bottom left hand section should be filled in to read livestock carrier, dated and signed, DVLA then will send you a new logbook out or they may even want to come and inspect the vehicle one the swap has been done . The MOT / plating should be done after the body swap.

Pathelschoice - that's what I thought - thanks so much - think the DVLA will definitely prefer the new chassis, poor old Betty Bedford is getting a bit long in the tooth and loose in the body
