Well after the vet discovered another problem in addition to the bone spavin yesterday, they've done nerve blocks and he thinks there might be a problem in the coffin joint, but that there is also pain in her foot, which is probably conformational due to her very low heels. He is not recommending medication at the moment as he thinks farriery will help a lot, but he's taking some more X-rays of the foot this morning. Fingers crossed they don't show up anything too bad

I am worried the arthritis may be in the coffin joint too, but he didn't seem sure when I asked...

Anyway good vibes please!

Hey, my vet saw my mare last night and is certain her problems are down to either hock spavins or PSD as last resort. What problems did your horse have and what treatment?

Fingers crosses and good vibes for you x

Hi, sorry to hear about your mare, how old is she? Mine is just 5 and has hock spavins, diagnosed in early January. She had steroid injections into the hock but has not improved, however the situation is now complicated a bit by the fact that the vet thinks she now has problems in her feet as well, so I guess it will be remedial farriery and then possibly more injections of a different kind if she still doesn't improve.
What is PSD?

Star is 10yrs ISH so still pretty youngish...vet has put her on a course of bute to see what affect it has then next step is to take her in for scans etc...PSD, proixmal suspensory desmitis, do with the suspensory ligaments...
