Our first PN, very excited!
Well, veeeeery early start as I was one of the first in my section. He warmed up beautifully for dressage, easily the best hes felt, very soft and relaxed, and much more uphill than he used to be. He had one little resistance in canter, and stepped back in his halt at the end, but was really pleased with it, so big pats
Onto the SJ, and did a nice clear - got a bit of a dead stride into number 1, and then gave myself a kick up the backside, and he jumped round super!
XC he was a star! It was a good first-timer course, nothing too meaty or big, though he did the corner at 5 very nicely, and then stormed round the rest
I do still find him a little tricky to turn, and think I need to work on possibly being a more disciplined in myself to get him listening and coming back to me quicker - it didnt really cause any problems yesterday, but I don't want to set myself up for trouble later when we start getting more combinations/technical fences, and he's learnt that he can just wing on round the corners..
I'm so chuffed with him, he made it all feel very easy
He finished 15th on a 36.5 dressage...have to say I'm feeling pretty hard done by with this mark, as it put him 3/4 of the way down the field, and I really thought it was quite a nice test
He's been getting late 20s intro, and got a 27.5 for this same test at an eventers challenge a couple of weeks ago (although unaff.) I guess this just reflects the step-up from intro to PN, and looks like we'll have to up our game a bit to get in the placings next time.
Really looking forward to our next (and last!) event now - South of England next Sat
