Sorry I know there has been quite a few posts lately on Muzzles, and i don't know if this has already been asked. But how long does the grass have to be before you can put a muzzle on your horse? Our grass is still quite short and they are still eating quite alot of hay, so i think I may may need to wait a while yet?
Also Would i take it off at night, to give him the night eating?
Sorry for questions, but this is my first year of using one and getting a bit nervous if i do anything wrong :S Thanks :D

I would put a muzzle on just before your horse needs it, whatever the length of grass - mine is a whizz at eating through it, even at a couple of mm of length. I only turn out during the day, he is stabled at night so can't comment on 'giving him a break form it' - NSC levels are lowest from 3am-10am (approx) and if you can keep the muzzle on till after sunset it can only help. Word of advice - i lined mine is sheepskin to stop it rubbing - especially over poll and buckle areas.

Mine has his on all year round, except if there really isnt any grass in the paddock, I'd put it on to be safe
