WOW where did that time go

You know what its like new horse arrives he is quiet and a little shy (bless him)

Rode him a couple of times he was lovely, such a good boy

Most of us go through the teeth, back, saddle etc

Chiro said he was a bit sore so put him right said give him 5 days off then walk etc (10 days gone) had him 3 nearly wks at the end of that

Dentist said needs a wolf tooth out not too bad see how he goes...........rode gently a few times could tell it was a problem so wolf tooth out another week off

Then scab on his back under his saddle (not bothering him) and a couple elsewhere I treated with iodine as I suspected Ring worm he had a reaction to it so emergency vet out. Another week off.......

ICE took a couple of days to get the yard gritted so hope to ride today

BLIMEY Horses eh................ However he is coming out of his shell now and is proving to be a real character, he is funny, cheeky but polite apart from sometimes squashing/leaning into me when I lead him He has a real sense of fun and a zest for life I have not known before. He is also more of a baby than I realized which is lovely (I love babies)

He has had one little buck and threatened to rear once when put under pressure out hacking, to go past something he was scared of However I don't think it will be a problem as it was fairly early days and a new partnership etc. I will just hack him in company for a while as it became obvious he hasn't done much and certainly not alone so will take my time with that one as he is so sensitive and good it would be too easy to ruin him and spoil the trust he is now showing in me.

So I am still over the moon but haven't really done much with him yet so time will tell. I am taking my time because of my leg and lack of muscles I don't want him to get too fit before I do as I am not sure I could cope with a very fit Micah just yet as his sense of fun is something to watch out for

Ridden wise the best part is he takes as much notice of my weak bad leg as he does my good one

Oh and once when I was getting on my bad (left) ankle gave way and I landed in a heap on his neck and back, he never moved a foot just turned his head and looked at me.....what a good boy

Well done, it sounds like you are building up a nice partnership and a what a sensitive caring owner you sound. Best of luck for when you do start doing things with him, I look forward to the updates!

It will all come good, sounds like you have just had 'one thing after another' but it will all come together and now you have the chance to build up a relationship and enjoy things now.

All the best, keep ya chin up and look forwards to 2010!

Know how you feel and you have my sympathies. Had my new horse since October and have only ridden a few times as he has managed to injure his back and cost me hundreds

So far I have had thrown at me:

- Back and neck problems
- Saddle etc needing doing...
- Kick in field
- Weaving issues
- Planting himself and refusing to be led without whip

Looking forward to getting back on next week and fingers crossed he is sound!

although I still love mine with his cheeky character and am hoping all the bad stuff comes first then its plain sailing.

At least you have got all of his issues sorted, just need to concentrate on getting yourself better!
