just about hitching this time... mine has the attatchement where you have to screw it onto the tow ball... do you keep screwing as far as it will go?

Secondly, does the wire bit go round the tow ball as well?

Yes you do,it should drop onto the tow ball, open it enough and you may need to stand on it to make sure it has dropped into place, screw until tight then lift it up and down, the car will lift up and down if attached and you will feel no play at all,and no,you need to hook the wire around the tow ball plate that is screwed onto your vehicle i believe!

Depends on the wire bit - if the wire bit is thin and has a clippy bit on the end that is the breakaway cable and hooks onto and ringlike thing under the back bumper, if it is a round cable with a fatter wire that plugs into back of vehicle to work lights etc. I think!! Been a long time since I saw one being hooked up actually! x

I have the same type of hitch and was always told to screw it up as tight as possible then turn it back half a turn. Attach your breakaway cable to a secure point on your vehicle, its there just in case of emergencies and brings on the brake on trailer.
