If you want to make your mane plaits stick up to make the horse look like it has a better topline, what do you do? Is it that you stand on the other side while you plait or something?
Thanks x

you plait really high up in to th ecrest of the neck. when you plait the mane do the really tight and instead of just rolling them up fold it up in half(so bootom of mane touches crest) then fold again in half and secure with band. you have to be good at doing them tightly but this is how we always do it. easiest way to practise is by plaiting a stallion because they have very cresty necks naturally!!!

Yep, plaiting up to start with is the key, but using thread will make sure you get the desired effect. Instead of bringing the thread round the sides of the plait (where a band would go) take it up and down through the plait to secure it. This makes sure you don't squash down the side parts of the plait that give the illusion of more topline.
