Hoping to show my 1yr old colt sec A in hand this summer, he has a split mare up the middle of neck from wither to poll, half on left and half on right. Would i need to train it all over the correct side for showing?
Yes you will need to train it over. Lots of plaiting over and also it may be an idea to put a hoody on with the main plaited over to help it stay. We have a darty with a very unruly mane. We plait it up the night before the show and then put a hoody on top and take it all off when we arrive at the show. That way it just about stays over for the class LOL. Good luck with showing your boy. Have fun
Yep, needs to be on the right hand side. I've got a traditional with a double mane and I've trained his over. I've found washing and plaiting on the right side and leaving for a few days and repeating has done the trick Also, a lycra hood the night before the show to lay it flat on the correct side helps keep it over all day for the show.
