Can a bitch have a season without the owner knowing...my two bitches are suppose to come into season oct/nov...but nothing yet...i thought they were going to come into season a while back, as they were weeing alot and licking at times but now nothing...unless they are going longer between seasons

i have a 3 1/2 and a 7 year old

I assume you mean the two in the photo's...

I have a whippet bitch who is 13 years old. She only ever had 2 seasons. Her mother was the same, she came into season 3 times in her life. My other two whippets came in regularly every 6 months. Some small dogs are not as regular as large breeds.

The 7 year old is middle-aged now, so she may slow down and sometimes bitches synchronise in their seasons, so maybe that is affecting the younger one ?

thanks
do you think that my younger one will have longer seasons...they usually come in about every 8mths
and as my older one is taking PrednoLeucopin...could this be effecting her seasons or just the fact that shes getting older

Sorry I do not know how that drug would affect your dog, you would need to ask your vet.

I can only say how my own whippets have been. (I always have bitches because I prefer them to dogs). My whippets used to race and course, the two that were real, lean racing types were the one's that had fewer seasons. The two that cycled more regularly, were both heavier, show type whippets. Maybe the weight factor has something to do with it.
