Another shooting post

Not a clue sorry lol I always used canvas dummies for training but did find dogs took a while to get used to getting their gob around them. they look interesting though

Don't have one myself but have used them whilst at training - used the mallard and the goose at water training and they were quite good but as you say a bit pricey. Do you belong to a local training/gundog group? Sorry if you do as you probably already know this but they do tend to have quite a few dummies that you can experiment with and may well have one that you could try before you buy.

We have one of these which is great as it apparently mimics the shape of the bird more so than the regular canvas dummies:

We trained our springer using this prior her to starting to pick up last year and she had no problems although it was he first season out so she only picked up a few selected birds.

Thanks for the link:) I train 1-2-1 so will mention it next time I go.

I've been considering this while eating lunch and I reckon I could make something similar with an old pair of tights, a dummy and a tennis ball.... wouldn't look so pretty but it should do the job in hand! Watch this space:D

I have nothing useful to add except to thank you for the link, I've been wanting to try something furry/feathery for focus training and the rabbit-covered tennis ball is cheap enough to take a gamble on. :) Have also bought a new whistle, I trod on mine the other day and it now only emits a feeble peep. :o

My God - I can't believe the prices on that link!!!!

Surely, especially at this time of year, when all the poults have been released that you can find some wing feathers and sew them onto your dummies?

PM me your address and I will send some over to you :)

They did make my eyes pop a bit:eek: I think my special homemade one is ok though;)

Not a feather to be found around were we walk, so I'll take you up on that offer RW:)
