Just back to work after 2 weeks off and it hurts lol

Firstly - I took Breagha to a local county show and I had entered her into 2 in hand classes and also a ridden. We had to be at the show ground for 8am and when we got there we kind of wished we hadnt gone as the OH van (4x4 off the road to get new hearbox) got stuck on the way in as did pretty much every car and lorry as the weather was horrible. It was lashing down. Anyway, tractor to the rescue and we parked up and sorted ourselves out.

Firstly - I almost missed my first in hand class which was Riding horse 4 year and over as I was helping the OH sister get her horse ready for her ridden and they never called it and seemed to be getting through them quickly but the judge was kind enough to let me in - phew! She trotted up beautifully for the judge and she got placed 2nd a class of 9 :D

Second class was the coloured class and again she did was she should and trotted up again beautifully and again got placed 2nd to my OH sisters coloured (judge said she would have prefered if she was "more coloured" lol.

I decided not to enter her into the ridden due to the ground being so slippy and wet. I am not at all bothered about what place she gets as long as she does what I ask her, placing is a bonus for me knowing ive done all the work.

Then on Saturday we went off to our annual EGS Show and I had entered her into the 4 to 6 year old ridden, another ridden and also an in hand class.
So, first up was our young horse ridden class, now I’ve said in posts before that we have struggled with the canter in the individual show and also she can also nap at the gate.
She was really good in the go around and is always so chilled and she was pulled in 4th. She stood in the line up really well and then when it was our turn to do our show, she actually did it really well. She listened to me and made it very sweet. She picked up the wrong leg on the right rein but I managed to get her back and pick up the correct canter lead which I was thrilled about and we managed to hold onto our 4th place against 6 year olds that were above us. She also got the best turned out prize for that class :D

Gave her a wee break and then I was back on for the next ridden and she was better than the previous class and picked up the correct canter lead in our individual show YAY! She always gets better every time we ride. I don’t school her very often maybe once a fortnight and we tend to do more hacking and do schooling on a hack to make it more fun for her – so i am super chuffed with her.
We then went on to do our in hand class which was a height class so was mixed with a lot of different types of horses plus two stallions and again she behaved and did exactly what she was meant to do, to win the class against 7 :D

Well done she is looking great:) I like the fact you are riding in a snaffle with her being young and new to it all, you see so many young green horses in pelhams and doubles far too soon in their training, my friends grand daughter was showing a young cob for someone a few weeks back and the owner insisted on her riding in a rugby Pelham, the horse has only ever done 1 show and he didn't look happy in it at all and he reared in the line up I think it was just all too much for him.

Thank you.

Yes, she doesnt get ridden in anything else. I havent even considered a pelham or anything like that she is too young and early in her education. Ill probably ride her in one as long as she continues to be happy in it.
