Ok... so I am thinking of using a tail rake instead of clippers (still not entirely sold though, so need a bit more convincing!)... will the rake work on hair thats only a couple of inches long??

Do they just cut the hairs near the roots? If so... cos its all the same length at the moment, wont I be left with some really short hairs and some 2ins long hairs, which will look bad!!!

And which do I need to bug for a not particualrly thick tail?

Sorry if those are dumb questions... I cant understand how the rakes work!!! And the only experience I've had is a friend totally massacering her pony's mane with one... I think she used it wrong though!!!

PS. Pulling is not an option.... VERY sensitive / whimpy horse!!!

The hair will have to be a few inches long for the rake to work. You might need a finer one if the hair is quite short. If you ring Clippersharp they will advise you on the right one to get for the type of tail you are doing.

mine was £5 from pet shop.is brill, you cant do it too short,it just dont cut too short.i use mine once a week.just be bold, first time i used it ,it seemed that it cut a lot of hair but once you get it to required way you just keep on top of it. it just takes one min.
