Hi Everyone. Ive been posting the last few months about my pony Kelly and his balance problems and then being diagnosed with Cushings, just wanted to let you all know how he is doing.
He's been on the Pergolide for a month now, no vast improvements but he did perk up a bit. His balance has improved quite a bit but it is certainly still an issue. It has only been yesterday that i finally let him loose in the menage, he was very good, though seemed a bit shell shocked and didnt quite know what to do! He liked having the sun on his back though! He was quite bad to start off with, and seemed to be wobbling all over the shop but as time went on he seemed to adjust and even had a little trot round. Another thing is with him being in for so long he has lost alot of muscle round his back end so is generally just quite weak. But im going to keep turning him out in the arena for a while until hes built back up again.
He still has balance problems, and i dont think they're ever going to go, but for now at least he seems happy and i will just have to see how he copes. Still puzzling me though and still no explanation from the vet, my current thought is it could be the tumour, but again, dont know! When he has a little shake of his head, his ears kind of go flat back and he puts his head lower, so he knows something is bothering him, just wish i knew what it was!
