Please please be on your guard, make sure your tack rooms are secure, saddles kept safe and insured and yard security lights and CCTV is all up and working because they are doing the rounds!!!
This weekend 2 attempts were made on two equestrian properties in Pollington nr Snaith. A horse box was broken into, they cut off the electrics to the security lights to the outbuildings and were clearly looking for tack but thankfully disturbed by neighbours and made off over the back fields during the night.
At the other end of the village, stables/feed room was also broken into, the same weekend, luckily tack was not kept in the outbuildings.
Our yard has been done over 4 times over the last 12 years, it could be the same guys...who knows but I'd hate your previous irreplaceable saddles to be taken like mine were a few years ago.
They work in areas and I can guarantee that they will be back to try their hand at every livery yard in the area, if they can break into R&R three times then they wont think anything of breaking in to our little tack rooms!
If you live in this area, please take your tack home with you or make sure its all secure and insured and check your insurance details and read the small print, some insurance will not cover tack if kept at premises were there are more than 5 horses for example and correct locks and doors must be in place, otherwise they wont pay out.
