This afternoon coming out of Tesco's it's a bit of a stupid store as you have to go escollators to get to it & then back down to get to car.
Anyway we were following this young family down, Mother & one child got off, Father holding young son's hand (3-4yrs) & the lad couldn't get off.
Father didn't realise at first what ws going on but the young lads shoe lace had become untied & one of the laces went down under the escelator & was pulling him. Luckily my brother without a second thought just grapped the young lads shoe & lace & yanked which finally snapped the lace.
The Father was most appreciative.
Could of been very nasty & Bro said it took some pulling & he aint weak!!

Just to watch for safety everywhere.
Luckily this was a happy ending with Fathr tying the boys laces or what was left of them.

That actually happened to me when I was about 5 years old!! I was with my grandma and she was terribly embarrassed that we'd caused such a scene, somebody had to press the emergency stop button. I was terrified of escalators for ages afterwards.

When I lived in the States, I was witness to the most horrific accident. A young girl had tripped and fallen on a 'down' escalator, and when she reached the bottom, head first, her hair was caught in the steps. It was yanked out. Awful.

I saw a kid trapped by her shoelace once a few years ago at the top of an escalator, the mother tried pulling the little girl out without success, so I said just to get the kid and leave the shoe (the shoelace had been loose which is why it got trapped, though it was getting tightened in the escalator as it moved). Luckily this was a minor incident and the kid was just scared.

(why oh why did this site not load my last posting - is it me or is it due to this very very slow site? I recommend copy and paste before posting just in case)

They have escalators in Burnley? Amazing.

Do people still marry close blood relatives up there on Pendle Hill?
