I'm looking at breeding from my beloved mare, as I want to get a foal from her to keep for myself. She has a wonderful temperament and I have owned her since a foal. It's only a thought and it will probably be next year if I do decide to.
She is a TB x Cob, 14.3hh. She does have good conformation, the only thing I would say is that she has quite flat withers but otherwise very good. She has straight, correct paces but lacks any extravagance. She is skewbald (bay tobiano) and has lovely markings.
I would like to retain her temperament as she does really have a nature to die for. She really tries her heart out and will do anything for me. She has a good amount of bone so wouldn't want to get anything lighter (she is a good MW). I would ideally like to add quite a bit of height and inject some flashiness into the foal. My mare is only RC level so would like something to go beyond that. I prefer dressage to jumping but would probably like a dual purpose sire.
Any recommendations?

There was a thread yesterday I think, in CR that was about Dexter iv offspring, don't know much about him but all positive comments re his offspring and lovely pics of one of them.
Might be worth a google?

How much height are you looking to add?
Know of a fantastic 16.1hh stallion that jumped grade a internationally, and passes on temprement, paces, and confirmation (Had three bred out of him, and did a trade that landed me a now rising 3yo out of him) Out of three I bred, in futurity one got elite, one high first, and the third was sold as a stallion prospect
the rising 3yo has an amazing temprement, follows me round the field with her chin on my shoulder, and can jump, but also floats

Alternatly this foal is by Amoureux, but he nearer 17hh
Foal is easy, and elegant. fantastically uphill
And Ami is dual purpose, even if concentrating dressage
Legrand is another, but have no experience of his youngstock

Thankyou for the comments. Your foals sound fantastic.
In an ideal world I would love her baby to mature at about 16hh, and anything bigger than that would be brilliant really, but wonder whether that is unrealistic as I'm not sure how big a stallion I would need in that case? My mare is a brilliant sports pony type (even though she is actually a horse at 14.3hh), while she is very laidback she can lack forwardness and while I would like a foal with more elastic, flashy paces I don't want to sacrifice on temperament or conformation. She has good depth of girth but quite short legs which I imagine has come from the cob side.

Legrande has produced beautiful, athletic, super moving foals with correct conformation and fantastic temperaments :D Most of his foals have been evaluated by the BEF Futurity team and their results are on the website for all to see. There are several members of this forum that have not only seen him in the flesh, but they have foals by him too.

He is an incredible duel purpose stallion that has proven his ability to improve on all his mares.

What about Dunhill Pursuit. We used him on a coloured cob last year and he threw a super filly and improved the mare no end. If interested PM me and I can email u some pictures of the foal
