Every year I have the haggle with NFU over the huge increases for my Tractor aka Quad insurance! I usually get it reduced but this year it truely was astronomical. Approx £360+. We have had no quads nicked or tractors round this way for years.

I rang SEIB who are looking into road legal quote but this year there are more companies offering quad on road insurance. So rang the next company after a quick google VineCover never heard of them apparently new company and very helpful etc Well wait for it £131 !! with only a £100 increase in excess(which is worth the saving). I have told them to look at Equine as the number of posts about the different companies variety in pricing is way out.

Why dont companies reward for loyalty..oh forgot to add my NFU £360 included a loyalty bonus of approx £30!! Outrageous..I know they are good and I will ring them as I have other insurance with them.

What does loyalty bonus mean too??? I really dont know & I wish I didnt have to shop around or haggle too.

My renewal quote for the tractor from NFU was £444! Along with all my other insurances with them, it came to nearly £2000  I got them to review all the policies, and got quotes from another company as well, and in the end the tractor quote came in at £200 from the other company and went down to £380 from NFU. By the time I had spent a week ringing round alternatives and NFU had had another think, they were only £34 more than the alternatives, so I've stuck with them for another year. I've been with NFU for over 20 years - there's no such thing as a loyalty bonus, whatever they may say

The only thing in their favour is that their lorry insurance is far cheaper than anywhere else. And I do like dealing with real people just down the road rather than someone 500 miles away on the end of a phone.

I do agree that they do provide an excellent service but its just a shame that they dont look after good loyal customers(The loyalty thing I dont even understand it..they must make it up or they could send it to me in cheque form).I always pay my premiums up front etc.

Wonder how many customers do switch when they just dont bother to question it. I wonder if its a ploy to get you to put all the other policies on with them. I have had horse and dog insurance with them in the past.

I think SEIB might be doing the tractor thing after speaking to them today?? Am waiting to hear back from them now.

Not sure how accurate this is but heard that European tractor insurance is lower hence this is why there are more competitors for tractor insurance now in UK(last year I could only find NFU although for Quad on road under tractor insurance).
