One of my horses is on a 6 month course to try and solve his allergies. The injection (goes into muscle) was made up specifically for him.

I'm assuming it is legal to compete him BE during his course? It does say on the bottle whats in it, but I have no idea what its covered under when I look at the BE drug list in the rule book! As far as I know it doesn't improve performance at all, but obviously want to be sure it doesn't have anything I might get done for!

Depends what is in the vaccine

If its got steroids in it, you might be illegal (certainly under FEI, but not sure about BE). I imagine it probably has, as I am always being pumped full of steroids for my allergies!

Might be worth getting a list of ingredients and giving the BE a call

I Had this done about 2 years ago. It worked really well but I can tell you whats in them. There is info on the website of the produce I can remember as you can use it for dogs aswell. Maybe ring the vet and ask the company name?? Im sure I did this but it was so long ago (2 years is a lifetime for me!!).

Hope this helps

I dont think it does have steroids in it, because I am very wary about using steroids on the horses due to the risks. I remember the vet saying that if the vaccine doesnt work then the only thing left to try is steroids which we agreed we wouldnt do. So I assume what he's on doesnt contain it.

Yeah, it was made at a company in Holland who generally do dog allergy treatments so probably the same as your one. I will check to see whats in it, i think it says on the bottle. BTW, did it work on your horse?! PM me if you like!

Don't know the answer to your question but could you tell me more about the vaccine? My horse has allergies and when they get bad he has to have steroids, I'd love an alternative.
