Well, we've tried most things - but think we now need to invest in some sort of device. I have a GSD who is now 16 months old and apart from one thing, he is the most brilliant dog we could wish for in doing his job as a guard dog, but also being a sweetie for us and friends when he's introduced to them. (He also loves the vets dog who comes regularly). Anyway, good for everything BUT one thing - he will bark non-stop when the horses are being led in and out. We've bought a sonic device which is supposed to stop the dog barking (affixes to the wall and sends sonic sounds!) but that's not worked, so what else. Has anyone tried the things that go on the collars and spray a scent towards the dogs nose when it barks or the one which sprays water onto them? When it was warm, I did throw a bucket of water over him and that stopped him immediately, but I can't keep rushing over to him to tell him to shut up when I've got a horse in my hand leading out. (The dog is locked in a large dog run at this point and is the only time he does get locked in). I wouldn't need to use a device all the time, literally just 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes in the evening when moving the horses about. Need to get this sorted as soon as, as I have foals due to be born in the next couple of weeks and really don't want the dog barking non-stop at them when we lead them in and out, and I'm also getting another dog (should be ready to leave its mum in a few weeks time) and naturally don't want him copying the older dog. Any suggestions would be welcome and before anyone says, we've already spoken to a dog trainer about this who couldn't come up with anything, save for having someone standing alongside the dog and squirting him with water - not gone anyone spare to just stand there with a water pistol!
