Anti-Cast Strips

I am wondering if anyone has had any experience of using these? (Made by fieldguard and fitted around the inside of the box).

My horse is making marks up the wall and indents in his huge solid banks. I am worrying that he will get cast.

Thinking of giving these a whirl if I can't get a bigger stable.

I thought about getting these after my horse got cast in his stable and by the marks on the wall it had happenned again. His stable is huge! so although the risk must be less, it doesnt stop them lying or trying to roll in the corners.

In the end I decided against the strips as the marks were both low and high and I thought if hes thrashing about, whats to say he will 'find' the grip needed from a strip placed at a height I 'think' is right so I got wall mats and theyve done their job as theres a couple of slits in them from where hes used them for grip. The marks are much lower than I would have put the anti cast strips.

I bought the cheaper roll from Robinsons rather than the eva mats but it was a nightmare fitting them as they are sooooo heavy. I picked them up in my old car and it looked like the suspension was going to give way. I was shocked at the weight.

My young cob went through a phase of constantly getting cast despite having massive banks, and i got some thin wood strips in packs from b&q ( i can't remember what they were called exactly, so that if he did knock the banks down he could still grip.

He only needed a couple of packs as his stable is only 12x 12 so was cheap, around £20 i think, we fixed 2 lots around 3 sides of his stable, at a lower height and a higher height if that makes sense!- it definitely helped as he could get some grip and purchase if he did get stuck. It was very much a "phase" as touch wood, he's not done it for a very long time!

I've never used the Fieldguard ones but sounds like they do the same thing and would be good.
