My old tb has had for 2 weeks a swollen right front leg. X rays, ultra sound etc done, no visible wound. Bloods taken showing more white blood cells so infection. He has had anti inflammatories and antibiotics. He is no better, leg still swollen and painful, he can walk but it looks painful.

The antibiotic was called Avemix no. 150 and contains Sulfamethoxypyridazine 116.2 mg, Trimethoprime 25.0 mg and excipient QSP 1gr

I am calling back the vet office and before doing so wonder if anyone has any ideas , different antibiotic?

He was kept in for a few days but due age and no movement the swelling got worse and worse so now he is out in a restricted paddock with a shelter.

I am in France so maybe the names of the medicine may be different in the Uk but the molecules must be the same. Any advice very gratefully received.

Does he have lymphangitis? My friends horse had the same symptoms as your horse, it was difficult to treat and he ended up having various antibiotics to try and sort it out but I don't know which type I'm afraid.

Hope you get a solution to your problem.

Thanks this is a good suggestion and I will bring it up, I did not hear it mentioned by the vet. Anyone else have any ideas to mention to her?
