Hya horseypeeps,
So, as grateful as I am to see the Sun, I'm now having my boy bitten into, they love to bite his bits, so to speak...so I'm wondering which is the best product to use...cheers v much x

Neem oil. Best thing by far. If he has bleeding bits you could use udder cream, too, but Neem is my first choice. Not to be applied before a hot date. ;)

Leovet Power Phaser is the only fly spray I have found that really works.

ETA: I have a mare so am not sure about using it near boy's bits!

Has your horse had his sheath cleaned,if not this may attract the flies, I read about a gelding that had flies lay eggs in his sheath which then became maggots , would start with a good clean and some fly spray under the belly,as already suggested read up on neem oil you can can make your own fly spray ,do not use neem oil on its own as in the sun it can burn the skin.

Thanks you lot, so I'm going to give him a wash, even though he doesn't have maggots, lol...not the nicest of jobs....but hey, needs must, and as I have a baby, sudacrem is on hand, but I'm putting an order in for neem oil, and if that doesn't work, I'm going to do penis fly patrol with a rolled up newspaper...don't phone rspca, I'm only kidding, then leovet...thanks again.x

I bought a tub of fly gel for our old boy. I think its by Lincoln maybe (black tub with yellow writing) It stinks of like nail varnish, but I used to smear it on the boys sheath & it worked wonders. He used to get eaten alive around there :(

You lot are cool, given me plenty of options to try...I've heard of Avon skin so soft, but I thought it was an urban myth in relation to real horse fly remedies...so, it works....hmmmm, I'll have to try it, is it like an oil? What is it? A body spray? Lotion? Cheers, chickpeas.x

Not a myth- avon sss dry oil body spray works well to keep flies from biting geldings sheath area- I use it or fly cream with deet also works.

I use avon sss on my filly's boobs.

Good for skin too and sorts out scurf. I spray it onto a warm damp cloth and wipe on. I did try direct spraying to area but almost lost a kneecap :D

My gelding is also allergic to Avon Skin so Soft so be sure to skin test it thoroughly before use. I use Sudocreme, all over the sheath, around the edge and the bit of skin where his bully button is.
