Im currently working at a stables for work experience as i want to become a veterinary nurse but struggling to find a placement and by working at the yard its giving me the experience to improve my chances of getting into a practice. BUT im not getting paid and everything was fine at first learning lots etc...then i got my own horse and i keep it there for free as im working there. Im working really hard and its all going fine (should mention my boss has been a friend of mine for a few years) all of a sudden the atmosphere and the way im spoken to/treated has changed...shes accusing me of not pulling my weight etc when im working as hard as i can. But I am finding it hard running a yard of 7 on my own when i dont have alot of experience as that was the point of me there in the first place. Cut a long story short..sorry!! iv been offered an apprenticeship which I think i would like to take but i cant start till july ish...question do i hang around another month and take the treatment thats really starting to get me down. Or do i leave...put my horse on cheap d.i.y somewhere and get a full time job until my apprenticeship starts..then i wonder at the moment could i afford my horse on diy etc etc...

sorry its soo long but im really struggling with these decisions etc i just want a little respect-am i being unreasonable?

thankyou for reading any advice is much appreciated

xx

I think it would be maybe a bit pointless getting a job if your apprentice starts in July, IMO but then i dont really know much about apprentices etc. If the costs aren't outweighing the benefits of keeping your horse at this yard where your being treated like cr@p, then i personally would move.

As much as DIYs can be a little

and i fly the flag for that one, if you find a cheap one where both you and your horse are happy, it faaar beats somewhere that you aren't. Oh and for what its worth my DIY livery costs me £85 a month x

I agree with DarcyLu. If you aren't happy, move, your horse will be happier if you are happier! DIY livery tends to be cheaper in summer any way, so you should be ok! if money is tight get a job thru an agency to tie you over till July.
Good luck with the apprenticeship!
