Can anyone shed any light as to why my mare has started to poke her tonge out to the right side of her mouth when being ridden?

Her teeth are ok and there's no obvious sores on her mouth but it's like she's discovered a new habit!

She's ridden in an eggbutt snaffle and is strong enough that she merits having a contact with her mouth the majority of the time (not much loose rein work for me

)

Any advice on reasons would be greatly appreciated so I can try and stop her doing it..........

It might be that she has a very large tongue and finds it uncomfortable with the bit in?

You could try a ported snaffle?

My mare is ridden in a French link eggbutt snaffle, and started doing that when she had a wolf tooth at 8 yrs old.

The wolf tooth was removed but the habit stayed. She is now 12! If you resolve your problem, please let me know!
