Any alternative to bandaging?

My mare has ongoing problems with her legs, I have had her turned out in sports medicine boots to give her ligaments support and then stable bandaged at night to avoid filling, but the boots are rubbing her and causing sores.

Today I have tried turning her out without boot/banadages to allow her legs to cool down and give them a 'rest' from any friction on the skin but need to bandage her still over night.

I have 2 questions really, does anybody know of an alternative to stable bandages which is quicker and 'less fuss' I suppose as although I don't mind bandaging her (it's all 4 legs) I don't like to ask others who bring her in on the eves I work, so wondering if there is a better solution for support overnight?

Also, if her legs are wet/muddy, what is the best solution in that situation to keep her bandaged overnight?

Sorry for all the questions, this is the first winter I'm going to have to banadage everynight so don't want to make any silly mistakes and make her legs worse.

My boyfriend's horse needs bandages on in the stable, otherwise he has elephant legs when we turn out in the morning.

I hate booting up for turnout, so he always has muddy legs when he comes in. I hose them off, making sure they're really clean, and then towel them as best I can. Then I bandage. I've never had problems with mud fever etc. but then he's black so has no pink skin.

I have to say, I do love seeing a horse all snuggly in bed with bandages on....

Good luck! It starts off as a pain in the bum, but you'll soon get a routine going. I bought two sets of washable bandage pads rather than gamgee in the end, as I was going through gamgee like nobody's business. He wears a set of bandages and pads for two or three days, then he has the other set on while I was them, and I keep alternating like that all winter.

I agree with LegOn.

I have the Premier Equine wraps but with the magnetic liner. They are fabulous, you can buy the different liners so after they have worked hard wack them in the magnets for half an hour then swap to the stable liners for overnight.
