Does anyone know of any arenas to hire within a reasonable distance of Leeds Met? The daughter is going there in september, her horse is staying with me though so I thought if I could find somewhere nearby, I could take the horse over for her to ride if she can't get back home for some reason.

Thanks x

Hi, what distance are you thinking? There are yards up near the airport which isn't that far, or quite a few north east leeds prob 6-7 miles away.

Any reasonable distance really! We're in Doncaster so would be travelling over anyway, a bit further wouldn't make much difference. She's emailed a few places that looked nearby but has only heard from 2 so far & neither of them hire the facilities out x

This is just up the road from me (quite literally!) and has a lovely new school. I've not used it sadly, but it has some great lights too if you're there at night. And some xc fences in the field if you fancy that

There's also a bit further out this indoor arena which is a great little one if the weather is bad, has jumps etc too. For some reason the website isn't working but its called Sicklinghall Park and is near Harewood +(44)7712530394

You can also google Wood farm in Scarcroft, they have a huge arena, but I'm not really sure whats going on there atm as most of the horses seem to have gone.

These places are all kind of between the A1 where you will come from, and Headingley. The first is about 15mins from Headingley and the same from the A1.

Thank you so much I'll definitely have a look into all of those! I don't usually go the A1 way (do M62, M1 & M621 as I'm right at the side of the M18/m62) but it doesn't sound like they'll be out of the way anyhow x

I'll second all of that. I used to be down the road from Hooves on the Hill and opposite Wood Farm, so very close to stencilface. There's also a livery stables close to Hooves on the Hill called The Old Stables (I think) that rents out their arena some of the time.
