Hi guys,
I hope to buy a beagle puppy over the summer as I lost my dog of 14 years earlier this month. I've always adored beagles and believe I would be a suitable owner due to my activity level, personality, amount of time available and my large well fenced garden.

I was just wondering how do you find your beagle around horses? Does your beagle live up to it's stereotype? My dog was a very vocal Jack Russell so my neighbours and I will be well prepared!

Hi - my friend owns a beagle which we look after a lot, and I have horses so he has been with us to visit the yard a few times. He is very chilled out in general and isnt really bothered by them (hes 11 months old) he is very vocal and howls a lot (its much less annoying than a dog yapping). He is a lovely dog. Hope that helps!

I've got a beagle! :D

Had him since 8 weeks old, and he is my best and loyal friend.

He doesn't come up to the yard, but when he does on occasion he is very good.

Training can be stubborn and take a while, but most are very food orientated so that helps a lot! He is vocal, but it's more of a 'woo' and so much more tolerable.

Good luck and enjoy your pup!

My boyfriend has two beagles (Snoopy & Begbie) and they live at his stables. They have the run of the place as it's an enclosed yard and he's had to beagle-proof it since he got them, but as they're out 24/7 it means they're around when he's working the horses. He hasn't found any problems with them at all, they respect the horses space and they don't get under their feet. They do poke around in the stables if any doors get left open - they certainly live up to the stereotype of following their noses!

I refer to Snoopy as the 'Unruly Beagle' as she pays little attention to my OH (although I can get her to do most things), whereas Begbie is super laid back and just mooches around looking at things at a much more relaxed pace!

Absolutely wonderful dogs :)

ETA: OH's two aren't remotely noisy, they only bark when he pulls up at the stables because they know he's got treats! Once he's on the yard itself they don't make a sound!

Hi, sorry to jump in thread but I have a 3 year old Beagle Dog who due to change in circumstances, that I have tried to avoid, I have to rehome.

He is a wonderful boy, though a typical beagle, where doing as he is told can be an optional extra. He is happy around other dogs and any other animals he has came in contact with, our cat and farm cows. We have put this off for a while and want to see him in a new home, therefore don't want to put him in a shelter, so if anyone knows of someone looking for a beagle we would really appreciate if you could let us know.

Thanks
