I have bought a hook up outlet socket like the link below
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mains-rou...ervan_Caravan_Accessories&hash=item415bb1c27c

I have mislaid the instructions (no not lost ;)). Does anybody know which way the wires should be fitted. If you look inside you have to connections at the top, which i think i can see a L on the left hand one and there is a single connection at the bottom (hope this makes sense)

There are letters denoting what the connections are ,stamped in the plastic next to where the wire goes in.

If yours is a female socket, then looking at it fromthe back ,the left hand (L) is the live ,the other small connector is the neutral (N) and the larger connector is the earth.

Mine is exactly the same as the link, think it's a male (it's not the holes but the pins i have) with 2 at the top and one at the bottom like . . hope you get the gist, i'm rubbish at explaining things Under the 2 dots should be another but i couldn't line it up

To the out side of my lorry, which in turn is connected to a socket inside. I need it so i can hook up a cable from the generator to the outlet socket.

You worried me by saying yours was the same as the ebay advert. Yours is an INLET socket not an Outlet socket. If you look at the pins , Big pin to the TOP .The big pin is your earth. The smaller pin to the left is your live (L). The smaller pin to the right is the neutral.

As I understand it ,you are going to plug a LIVE female connector onto this inlet plug to feed power into the horsebox . This would be correct.

Caution !!! you also need a earth leakage trip ,consumer unit and the thing must be earthed to the lorry chassis ...It is a job for a pro.. as if its not wired corectly and fused there is a chance of fire or electric shock , Please seek a sparky's advice...
