Any dealers you'd recommend that sell safe but not ploddy horses?

We're looking to get another horse - mainly for my OH to ride,for him it would be to just hack out twice a week,but it also needs to be something i could take to the odd RC show and jump. My youngish mare isn't the most forgiving horse at the best of times and it would be nice now and again to just get out and get on with things rather than having to deal with the napping,spooking lark i have with her! I'm aiming to mainly hunt my mare through winter with a bit of dressage,so the other one (pref gelding) would be just one for fun stuff. Does anyone know of any good dealers that specialise in safe but not ploddy types. All we want is something that can be left in the field on it's own if needs be, say if i'm out with other one and it should be good to hack out alone/ in company and not play up if my mare is having a tantrum,is there a horse out there that exists??? I've never really ridden or had a safe calm type of horse so am looking forward to it!!!!

Ideal stats: 15-16hh,7-14yrs, pref gelding,not H/W cob but anything else fine. Doesn't have to be a stunner or worldbeater.
 
I got Hovis from stubley hollow farm and other than age he is as you describe. Safe, definitely not a plod (!!), capable of a bit of everything, on the whole unfazed by life, an all round star of a horse (other than pulling like a steam train when he's excited!!).
I got him from Stubley but he was 4 when i bought him and i paid silly money for him (i know i did but he was worth every penny!).
Might be worth a look though.
 
One day i will get my dream horse from Prestwood Farm,their overgrown connemara's are gorge,but a bit over our budget this time round. We just want a real family type horse,be a bonus if it could compete but not a major factor,as long as it can hack out thats all that matters. Budget i guess would be under the £2500 mark,we are looking to maybe loan if possible but i know it would be easier to find the type we want if we buy.
 
I'll add another vote for Patsy at Stubley Hollow Farm. I got Badger from there and am so chuffed with the horse he is turning out to be.

She is as straight as anything and whatever you buy from her will 100% be as described.

Its a bit of a pain to browse but worth waiting for all the vids etc to upload. Also make sure you spot 'page 2' of the horses for sale as the link sometimes takes a while to upload.
 
Another vote for Patsy at Stubley Hollow - her horses ARE as described, and if she thinks you and the horse are not suited, she will let you know!
The only downside for me ( aprt from a 5 hour joureny each way! ) was that the hacking round there is almost non existant, you can see how good a horse is in HEAVY traffic, but no real open spaces.

I don't recommend dealers - too many bad experiences! I'd much rather go through a private vendor, but if I had to go through a dealer I would only buy from one that I got a recommendation for from someone I knew.
 
Having witnesses patsy telling someone they weren't a match i can definitely agree!
We also got Omar from her so I think it says alot that both our boys are stubley boys. Both very very different horses though.
 
Just looked at the website and what a refreshing change from the normal dealers' webstites you find. I can see why so many people recommend her. I can see myself making a trip to stay with my friends in Chesterfield if I ever need a new horse!
