Evening guys, pulling my hair out trying to find some stable mats locally (cheshire) to no avail :(

Can anyone reccomend anywhere near me, after 6 by 4 foot ones, for shavings in winter, or a good online shop with cheap shipping and good prices

When you look for matting don't buy anything thinner than 17mm if you have a horse. You may think that buying 12mm will be a big saving but honestly it won't because when a large horse twists & turns on the thinner matting it starts to deteriorate & rip. Trust me, it happened in a stable I had a horse in.

I bought 17mm thick 6' x 4' matting years ago & it's still fine now. I've looked around & the cheapest I can see on the internet is around £29 per mat (6' x 4' x 17mm) plus delivery.

I think you'll find delivery will be pretty standard all over the country (even from a local supplier) because most deliveries are contracted out to transport companies unless you are in a position to collect yourself but these mats are very heavy @ around 45kg each. You should expect to pay for a 12' x 12' stable (6 mats) around £180 + delivery. Ensure they're delivered as near to your stable as possible, as I said they're very heavy to move.

Good Luck

Costco have got packs in at the mo, but they are quite thin. Is the inter locking anti fatigue mats for workshops really. 8 mats for ten pounds and to do a 12 x 12 stable was 5 packs. Looks good down but don't know how long it will last.

Cheapest isn't always best.I don't like the thin stable mats sold, much prefer cow mats.We have 3 stables done out with cow mats from Mole Valley Farmers.OK so the mats were £45 each, but will pay for themselves in saved shavings in two years !
