Any decent riders in Bedfordshire - can I come and watch you ride?

I am visual learner and I would be really grateful if anyone who is into dressage would let me watch them ride. I am not long into learning how to ride my mare in an outline, lateral work etc so I am only a beginner really. If you are in the Bedfordshire area and wouldn't mind having an audience for a schooling session I would be grateful. Plus I love meeting new neddies!

I am off to watch riders at some events (Keysoe this weekend for example) but it really helps if I have someone telling me how they are combatting an issue, what they are asking for, when they get it etc...

A long shot but worth an ask.....

P.s I'm not a weirdo, nor will I be able to CC you as I need to learn so much myself!

Have you thought of volunteering for dressage writing? You might learn a lot that way.

fantastic idea, i love dressage writing you get so much more of a feel for what judges want, has improved me no end :) (its also a great way to meet more horsey friends)

Speak to Patsy at Keysoe, they're often looking for dressage writers. It's making a note of what the judges say by the way, so you'll learn a lot - not that I know anything about dressage!

Oooo that does sound good, so you have a judge in the box and a writer? Thanks guys, I am going to Keysoe either tomorrow or Sunday so will try and find Patsy! Will any of you guys be there?

No, don't do dressage but jump at Keysoe regularly. I knew Patsy many years ago when she was a mere instructor! Keysoe's really into dressage and eventing and just tolerate us show jumpers. I'm sure they'll be glad of any volunteer writers. Patsy is joint owner and can often be found in the shop. If not, just ask for her at the office.

Your best bet at the moment is to pop into the office at Keysoe & have a chat with the ladies in there. They usually keep a list of volunteers they can call.

Whereabouts in Bedfordshire are you? How about joining a riding club. There is a riding club based at Keysoe. You don't have to be a diva for the training sessions - I'm living proof of that (& the camp grub this week was excellent!)

I'm in Cranfield but don't have my own transport. Going to see how I get on with my first outings this summer (hopefully relying on a kind friend for transport to a couple of shows) and then will see about getting transport next year. Thanks for the suggestion though!

There are also Riding Clubs at Bedford & Aspley Guise but I don't know if they are affiliated or what sort of activities they run. Keysoe do get people from quite a wide area though.

Volunteer for dressage writing, I've done it & found it very interesting. The judges are very informative & will talk about the tests & will also talk about dressage in general.
