Hello,

I fell of my moped 2 weeks ago (will be 3 weeks on Saturday) I twisted round, landed on my back and the moped fell onto my right leg. It swelled up around the lower Tibia and I soaked it in a hot bath that night and couldn't put much weight on it for about 2 days.

However, if I walk for more than 15 mins, or ride, or bend my ankle towards me or away from me pain shoots up my leg.
It hurts when I manipulate it around 2 inches from my ankle, on the side of my Tibia.

Does this sound like I've just twinged some muscles or is it more serious. I've tried to continue in normal activities - I am quite an active person! But it's just getting very annoying!

Thank You.

I am not a doctor but why don't you get it checked out at a local minor injuries unit?

When I have injured myself and gone along to them, they checked it and and x-rayed me and then sent me to the fracture clinic! Lot quicker and easier than A&E

No medical professional is going to risk their registration by giving a diagnosis or treatment advice blindly on a forum :)

But let's turn this around.

If someone came on the forum and said their horse had fallen over 2 weeks ago and the leg swelled up and they were still lame.....you'd be screaming at the screen for them to get the vet out

.

It's the same thing.

GO TO A&E!!!

^^^^So True!^^^^^

I've been looking on the internet, putting my symptoms in and it could be a stress fracture which I may have made worse by continuing riding and poo-picking, cause who else will do it?!!

Deffo going to find out know as it'd be stupid not to - thank you for all your comments and will let you know tomorrow.

I'd agree with the comments above. Unfortunately most doctors can't make a diagnosis without a lot more information, and without examining the limb. I would say that unless it's an emergency (which is again difficult for anyone else to tell you if they haven't seen you/spoken to you) don't go to A+E - go to a minor injuries unit as suggested above, or your GP. They will send you to the hospital if they feel it is indicated.

Good luck getting it sorted!!

Its amazing what us horsey people can do, carry on mucking out etc with injuries becuase we have too. I hurt my foot/toe, carried on walking about on it for 2 weeks, riding (schooling hacking galloping) thinking I was being a wimp. Was at GP for something else asked her to look at toe as it was still sore and swollen. She sent me to xray, I of course did the horses first, went to xray and the radiologist said she had no idea HOW on earth I was still walking on it. Big toe is shattered. There are too many bits, and they are displaced for them to be able to do anything other than put a cast on me and see if it heals. So I am now in plaster and cant ride etc. I think walking on it has probably pushed some of the bones upwards. That was 2.5 weeks ago, I go back on 1.5 for them to rexray and hopefully show it is starting to heal. Very frustrating!

She'll need to go somewhere with xray facilities.

I am a Nurse and feel very surprised you did not attend A&E after the accident and are now worrying about ongoing symptoms. You should seek immediate medical help, from your GP in the first instance,or as advised at a minor injuries unit.It is totally unsafe to seek a diagnosis on a forum. You need a professional opinion from someone who can see and examine the injury, and then signpost to the correct treatment pathway.

Sorry, but A&E are generaly a waste of time unlessyou are completely broken. You are battered bruised and probably have tweaked a few ligaments , Welcome to my world:D

A&E then fracture clinic - both failed to diagnose my broken leg with numerous x-rays! (also had smashed knee and concussion) Walked around (and rode) on it for 9 weeks before a MRI showed the break. Too late to do anything by then!!

I suppose it meant I wasn't in plaster and out of action for weeks - I just carried on! ;)
