Do you have any type of insurance? I'd like to get into dog walking and have looked into insurance. It all looks very expensive, especially seeing as I don't yet know whether I'll get any work!
Any dog walkers here?

Yes and yes.
It really is not wise to not have the insurance. A couple of months ago I 'lost' a clients keys. They were in Australia for 6 weeks and I had full care of their 2 dogs. I'll tell you now I pooped my pants and that's with insurance. It would have been a locksmith job to get in plus the cost of a new lock.
Thankfully after over an hour of frantically retracing my steps and a 12 mile round trip drive to another clients house - there they were. Sitting by the hamsters cage. I had gone in my pocket for a torch (he lives in a dark office) and must have popped the keys on the side without even realising I had done it. Phew. A valuable lesson learned
I'm with these guys. £148 for the year.

Haven't had any dealings with them apart from paying them. I'm very happy with that and long may it continue lol
How would you pay a vets bill? On my 2nd paid walk, 3 dogs one family, one of the dogs ran down a wooded bank, along the bottom, back up and then back to me. She had a 1cm sq chunk of flesh missing above her eye and blood pouring down her face. It looked horrific and I nearly threw up. Got her back home where Mrs Owner was waiting - gulp! Thankfully girlie dog was fine. We cleaned her up and I advised what I would do if it was my boy. Common sense care over the weekend, call me anytime, and vet on Monday if concerned. Mrs O. took it on board and all was well. But the next owner might have wanted to go straight to the vets with her. If the owner had not been at home I would have called them immediately and they could have instructed straight to the vet.
Good luck with it all It's a massive responsibility though so be prepared 
ETA - meant to say that I paid for the fist year without getting any jobs, the 2nd year I barely covered costs, then this year all my bills are paid and I'm into a little profit. Well I am if I value my time at about £5 an hour

We are with Cliverton and its about £120 a year and covers everything from loss of keys, public liability, dogs in transit, vet fees. Never had to use it in the 4 years I have had it mind (fingers crossed/touches wood) lol

Ahh that's expensive 
I was just thinking of doing it as an evening thing, because I love dogs but don't have my own. And there's quite a few old people around here, or people that only take their dogs outside for a poo! Looks like that's putting pay to that idea!

It's truly not, if you have a good business it's pennies, this is covered by 1 dog in like 3 weeks walking (its the grand scheme it's nothing). It's a must, you cannot walk without it.
