Hi
back in may my mare went lame and after a wasted month where initial vet thought suspensory we finally got to the bottom of it and there was swelling in her stifle nerve blocked sound when the stifle was blocked (hadn't with suspensory) we then gave her a steroid injection into her stifle and brought her slowly back into work she has been back in proper work for about a month 6 weeks now and yesterday went lame again! :( have spoke to vet who said the steroid probably wouldn't have lasted more than a few months anyway and now wants to use adaquan so just wondered if anyone has any experience of this as little bit disheartened as originally vet said the steroid would be enough but on speaking to him today implied that would never have been the case!
am just a bit worried that she will go through the adequan injections then 4/6 months down the line we will be back in the same boat so any experiences would be good.

not really sure as to the original problem as no real damage any where just swelling although again vet mentioned joint diesase today which was never mentioned before! :/
many thanks

Not for a stifle problem, but two courses of Adequan for my old boy left him sound for over 10 years. I bought him having just had the second lot of Adequan, not clear what the original problem was, but back leg related. One course for my mare (hind fetlocks) and the effects lasted for maybe 12 years.

Mine had an op, adequan, tildren and corticosteroids: he had everything thrown at him so couldn't say for sure what helped, but he was definitely better for all the treatment

Hi

I shall be interested in following this post as my horse was diagnoised with navicular a couple of weeks ago and has just finished a course of adequin, but its a little to early to tell if it has helped.

My horse had cartrophen injections (4 week course) apparently very simular to adequan, for his hocks and stifles. Sorry to say but it made very little difference for about 2 months then we were back to square one, he was then referred to York for a bone scan - I suppose it all depends on what the primary problem is and the horse. Good luck x
