My 3 year old labrador is having a bout of cold tail :( He got the same in September last year and it lasted about 36hours, gave him childrens neurofen for the pain and it solved itself - he got his wagg back :D

He has had little bits of the symptons since but its always gone by the morning.

On Tuesday evening he was sore, by Wednesday morning he didn't want to get out of bed because of the pain (he is a whimp by the way), the pain seems to have subsided and I'm no longer giving him any pain meds and he is his normal happy self. The tail has lifted a little but he doesn#t have his wagg back yet - I'm just wondering if anyone has any experiences and how long it took their dogs to get their wagg back?

(excuse sp its early and I'm rushing to get the train to work!)

Any advice much appriciated :)

Use Aspirin not neurofen, the latter is Ibruprofan which is poisonous to dogs and will cause a stomach bleed. That is it really, unless you feel an anti inflamatory injection is needed.

I am a veterinary nurse and to be honest I wouldn't even give my dogs aspirin, if they are in alot of pain, I take them to work and get presribed drugs such as Metacam or a short acting painkilling injection, if the doggie is sooo sore if doesn't want to get out of bed, it probably needs something fairly strong, dogs don't generally kick up unless they are miserable. x
