Any feed gurus' D&H pasture mix and Spillers Meadow Herb

Anyone know the difference in ingredients between the two?

My horse was 'sensible' on the D&H feed but seems to have very runny diarrohea and totally stupid out hacking on the Spillers.

I'm going to the Equine Event on Saturday so will do some research whilst I'm there but wondered if any of you knew what Spillers has that D&H doesn't or whether I'm barking up the wrong tree, and it might be totally unrelated.

The spillers meadow herb is aimed at fussy feeders so it may be higher in sugar to tempt them (this may be wrong!).
I think Spillers cool mix is the equivalent of D&H pasture mix .

Spiller's Meadow Herb is 26% starch, so wouldn't be surprised if it made a sensitive horse fizzy. However, the D&H Pasture Mix isn't much lower at 22% so I'm not sure that is enough to explain the difference in behaviour! But as Firewell said, it may have a higher sugar content as well!

You could email Spiller's and D&H and ask for the relative starch and sugar levels of the two feeds, plus an ingredients list for both.

If your horse tends to be a bit spooky generally, then I would look for a lower starch cube instead of feeding cereal-rich mixes. Perhaps High Fibre Cubes, or if you need more calories than that then something like Spiller's Slow Release Energy Cubes. Another alternative is to feed a low starch balancer alongside fibre feeds such as beet, alfalfa and grass products.
