Any fly spray that actually works?

Have you tried Tritek? It's a bit pricey but lasts for ages and I find it a godsend for my highland who can get a bit of SI.

Beat me to it! I just received my first bottle of the year. It was fab last year when he as turned out next to the river.

Anything with DEET in is good, proven to work.

Put it this way i have used it when abroad in Tanzania and China and creepy crawlies dont come near you. The one designed for horses is a less strong version of what i used. I guess if you wanted to bulk it out with more deet you could but i think it would effect the lovely sheen on the horses coat

Made my own with citronella, works so well all the yard use it just get a little bottle of the oil from the health food shop get a spray bottle and fill with water. Add about 5 drops and shake. Patch test first and keep away from eyes. Cost about £5 for all summer

Leovet Power Phaser

Smells wierd (reminds me of tobacco??!)

Tried Deosect last year, but got V bored trying to apply all the recommended dose .... So if anyone has any suggestions with regard that, I'd like to hear them (without hijacking yiur thread OP!) :)

I apply Deosect with a flannel rubbing it well in - a bit like a hot cloth groom then when done wring the flannel out over the fly rug

Not to be a kill joy..but I really do not think people should be recommending a product which isn't licensed for that use. You cannot just say there are "licensing issues" as there is obviously a reason for it. What if after two or three years of use youfnd out you have given your horses cancer because of it? It won't prove so cheap then?
