Have always used frontline but dubvious at using at the recommended frequency due to the prospect of de-sensitizing the little buggers (fleas not dogs!). Any good alternatives apart from bob martin shampoo that is!!

garlic but its not guaranteed...
I'd ask the vet what you can use alongside it such as Stronghold and see if you could alternate type thing??
I'm very very strict about defleaing dogs but my GSD has a flea allergy so ours are done regularly :)

Well there is a plant called Flea's Bane that grows wild that apparently used to be used to rid a house of fleas, might be worth some research.

Have found over the years that raw fed dogs are less prone, might be down to much less sugar in their blood?? Sweet toothed fleas!!!

Fleabane does work and its worth investigating.

My neighbour has a manky shar pei who is a martyr to his allergies and she uses garlic oil and neen oil mixed as a flea deterent. I assume it repels those already on the dog as well as detering any further visits but Im afraid it stinks! Dog has fabulous hair though.....on the bits where he isnt bald.

Poor devil....he came rescued from inner city London to a new home in the country and is much improved healthwise but you can tell he is a bit 'special'!!
