If you do it now, and the use pig oil and sulphur thru the winter, I would "think" it should be well on the way by next summer. Never taken full feather off - why are you thinking about it, is it cos of mud ?
Had to clip my lad's off due to mites last December, they're just about back to a respectable length now, but not quite fully re-grown. It'll take a full year I reckon to get them back to their former glory!
The pic on the right in my sig was taken after about 6 months re-growth.
If you're thinking about clipping due to mites, if you PM me I have a much better (if a little un-orthodox!) solution that I wish someone had told me about before I de-feathered my boy! x
Thank you very much for the replies. I took my boys off about 18 months ago after a long battle with mites. Have since learnt about the pig oil and sulpher and thought I would give it a go. Really want to show him next year and miss it. He isin my sig with feather.
It take my mare around 10 months after a complete leg clip, it does depend when you first clipped if I clip in summer her feathers are back mid winter, however if I clip her early spring I still have to wait untill mid winter.
