as above really.....I have no electricity at my yard as yet and plan on rigging up battery/solar lighting in stables asap.
However, there is a track to bring horses down from fields that is dark.....I am thinking of some type of lighting......perhaps those solar lights you put in ground a few feet apart on edge of track.....they may not give enough light though?

For various reasons, I have a couple of temporary stables where there is no elec.
I am using a head torch. I know you are looking for something better but the head torch has been a godsend over the last few weeks for me until the perm elec is sorted.

Why bother ,I used to ride my point to pointer while I was at college,in pitch darkness. They can see in the dark you know!

Musto sell caps with ear flaps that have LEDs in the peak so you can see, would that be good enough?

For years we had our stable/field lights rigged up on car batteries which worked fine. Generators are more trouble than they are worth, I think we had at least 4 of them, sol stolen, along we other grabbable stuff :o

I would go for car batteries, or headtorch jobs tbh solar lights are not that great :)

TBH, I'd prefer the dark; it's easy once you've got your eye in and of course, the horses can see where they're going anyway. Another reason I wouldn't use lights on the track is security, why make a robber's job easier if there's no need.

I can't though!! I use a headlamp presently, but have other ppl and their horses to consider and am trying to find a more permanent alternative :)

Honestly, a good supply of old car batteries works well, give them a try, just need someone who knows what they're doing to set them up. :)

We used to use gas lamps and tilly lamps before the car batteries, they were a luxury! We moved onto generators, which no matter how you protected them got nicked, and now we have mains electric, after 20 years! :)
