Just thought I'd ask here as my youn lad has me slightly baffled.

He's 15.2 4 year old cob x only broken the end of last year and just been brought on slowly 30 min tops walking hacks 2 to 3 times a week he's very happy and laid back with every thing. I moved him to another yard about 3 weeks ago to where there's only 2 other horses (my mum and sisters horse) they all ran about silly the first few days while they sorted the pecking order but were actually quiet civilised with each other. Now about 4-5 days ago my boy came trotting up the field to me obviously lame but very happy in himself. We checked for any obvious cuts, heat, swelling and nothing was happy to have all feet picked out no discomfort. He's fine in walk and canter but really lame when he trots, the farrier was out yesterday and found nothing obvious. I am going to get the vet out if no improvement but just wondered if anyone had a clue?

Rambled abit there but thanks if you've got this far :-)

No idea! My instant thought was abscess but your farrier would have found that!

Maybe he's just hurt his leg? As in, like staved it whilst messing about? Especially if it's worse in trot, as canter is easier on them! Could also be a pulled muscle or similar?

I would vet. My yearling is on box rest for similar sounding issue after a kick where the heat went after cold hosing . Vet said it was consistent with a fracture so I've got her in for a month.

My instant thought was he's pulled a muscle messing around. But yes I'm going to call the vet especially after reading what "Rebles" yearling has done I hope she's ok and recovers well! He's very much himself and trots about the field with his ears pricked up quiet happily even though he's clearly lame
