Basically horse I have on loan at the minute, was with view to buy but not anymore, but that a whole other story Im not going into.
He threw a shoe out hacking a few weeks ago, so had to lead him back to the yard, farrier was up on the monday put shoe back on, anyway he went lame and leg went like a balloon and a lot of swelling. Got vet out after a few days as it didnt go down and he still was lame.
Vet come and said abcess, so off come the shoe, poulticed it up and left it at that. Two weeks later nothing is coming out of the foot, swelling gone down and he will put his foot on the floor with ease whilst tied up. So gets farrier to shoe him fully, and he has a look in his foot and he said he is fine nothing left of the abcess.
So I think great, anyway as he was sedated didnt get him out untill next day, trotted him up still lame, fine in walk where he wasnt before. But reluctant to step under himself. So thought give him a few days and let farrier look when he next up. Farrier couldnt find anything, got his owner to come see him, she had a look and said it not showing any signs of being an abcess as no heat/swelling etc and will put his foot down fine and will walk around fine.
Anyway trotted him up for her to see, she said he wasnt that bad just doesnt want to step underhimself, so said turn him out, get him lunged as he might be having us on as he is a pansy like that. Anyway put him in the field and I watched him and he was not right, not dog lame but he wasnt happy, didnt stop him from hooleying around though.
I am a bit of amiss what is wrong with him, I did think when he had the abcess though it was something else aswell. Ive been told to see how he is tomorrow and if not right get the vet again.
Sick of seeing them this month, but if anyone could shed any light please do.
Also I am not the type of person to hammer horses on roads or up and down the bridle paths. I do have a trot and canter dont get me wrong but not one of these hooligans.
I am quite sad about it all now, just want him better
