I've just started to ride out a friends horse who is safe but like any is sensative toa mood change, in an area i used to ride round years ago and after a 6 year break from riding. Im happy riding but would love to get the total confidence back to have fun while out hacking, cantering etc. Any ides on how to build this up??

Try to find someone to ride with. It'll give you confidence, be safer until you find your feet, and when it comes to a difficult gate or whatever, two's always better than one anyway. And if you are chatting and relaxed, your horse will be relaxed too.

Also if you do have to hack alone (like me!), it works for me to think, I can always get off and lead her home. Oddly, that means I never do have to cause I dont feel pressured into seeing it through. I also look upon it as an expedition for us two, rather than being stressed about 'just a hack'.
