Hi there, i've just noticed this on my youngsters neck! It's very dry and its literally just a flat scab.. He has two others that are similar - maybe smaller!

Any ideas? I'm wandering if it's ring worm (not sure how he's picked it up!)

Looks similar to my donkeys scabs (fox mange).

I would get the vet to do a skin scrape to identify it in case it ends up spreading.

It could be ringworm I would contact your vet so it doesn't spread, keep everything of your separate, don't use tools etc which are general things until your vet gives you a diagnosis's

Hi all, just an update went tonight and scabs come off and underneath is very healthy un marked skin so I think as it was tender as well.. He was bitten by the other youngster In the field who is not unknown for biting!!

Very often ringworm scabs come off leaving lovely pink skin behind. If I were you I would keep a very close eye to see if anymore appear also look for little hair loss patches

Soulful - oh really? I will certainly keep an eye! I may treat for ringworm anyway -i don't think it can harm him! We have some spray here that's for ring worm.

I did see other field mate bite him yesterday, and it does seem funny how they were shut in the shelter together on Tuesday(for an hour) and he magically had these patches!.. Think they are trying to figure out the pecking order as mines now gelded.. But I will deffo keep an eye on them anyway!
